தமிழ் எழுத்துக்களும் அதன் உட்பொருள்களும்
Tholkaappiyam says each word in Tamil has its own hidden original meaning, so I am in the process of finding the meaning of sounds/letters. I think I am little successful in decoding most and surprised to see the real hidden meaning behind some commonly used nouns in Tamil. In Tamil there is a popular saying that Its God who first announced the letters, but I think its an individual who invented the first basic sounds with associated meanings which formed the base for one of the world’s first spoken language, whomsoever it may be, Praise to Him.
இங்கே தமிழ் எழுத்துக்களையும் அதன் உட்பொருளையும் இங்கே தொகுத்துள்ளேன், இது உங்களுக்கு வியப்பாகவும் பயன் உள்ளதாகவும் இருக்கலாம்.
Here I am listing out the basic sounds with their possible meaning and some example Tamil words, this will be more interesting and amazing (only if you truly understand this secret). Its not only applicable to Tamil language, this looks to be the base of many language groups we see now.
[ஒவ்வொரு எழுத்துக்கும் ஒரு பொருள், அதனால் எல்லா எழுத்துக்களை சேர்த்தால் மட்டுமே அதன் உட்பொருள் விளங்கும்./ Remember, each sound has a meaning, so all letters of a word contributes to its inner meaning]
[குறிலும் நெடிலும் எதிர்ப்பத பொருள் தருகின்றன/ If you notice, Short and long sounds are nearly opposite in meaning, for ex “A” and “Aa” are opposites, this is another amazing feature that could explain how people of ancient times should have visualized sounds with their meanings.]
Let us start, with the meaning of Vowels: உயிர் எழுத்துக்களிலிருந்து தொடங்கலாம்,
அ / a :அறியபடுவது, அருகில் A : Near to, nearer, visible, Known, Understandable
ஆ / Aa: மறைந்தது, அறியாதது, மதிப்பில் உயர்ந்தது, முடியாதது Hidden, Not visible, Not near, Un known, Unmeasurable, Higher level, unknown point, Infinite, highly sacred/Cannot
Aa/ஆ primarily should have meant “unknown” or “Cannot” (மதிப்பிட முடியாதது) and as always unknown things considered more higher in value(மதிப்பில் உயர்ந்தது), many words has the meaning of sacredness associated with it in Tamil, as in ஆ/Cow got its name due to its sacredness/ மதிப்பில் உயர்ந்தது. and ஆடு(goat) – உயர்ந்த + இயக்கம்( Amazing movement).
இ / E : உள்மறைத்தல், கொடுக்க மறுத்தல் : Not there to give away, Kept Inside permanently, to Keep within and not there to give.
ஈ / Eee :கொடுப்பது, வெளியேற்றுதல், ஈவது, வேண்டாம் என துறப்பது, ஓட்டுவது, விட்டு விடுவது : To Give out, To Give away, To take away from us. / (ஈ, ஈகை).

எ / ae: எளிதாக முடிவது, எளிது, இயல் Able, Accessible, Automatically, Within Access, Understandable, Reachable and near.
ஏ / Eae : எளிதாக முடியாதது, இயலா With Effort required, Not Accessible, Not understandable, Not reachable and far. /ஏ : (ஏணி).
ஐ : I (ai) கட்டுப்பாட்டில் / பிடித்து வைத்திருப்பது, உரிமை கொண்டு. : In possession, Caught and kept, contains
ஒ / O(short) ஒன்றுபடுதல் (ஒற்றுமை, One, Onru) O : To join as one, union :United.
ஓ / O(long vowel) பிரிந்து செல்லுதல், பிரிதல் To separate : / (ஓடு, ஓலை ஓட்டம்)
————————————————————————————————–
We have seen the meaning of vowels above, Below are the meaning of the other sounds which are the compound letters in Tamil, We could easily see how these sounds are mixed together to give that ultimate real meaning of an object. The beauty here is the above listed meanings of the vowels becomes clear when it joins with the consonants ie. the body/skin letters(Mei elutthukkal) .
Go through the below basic sound’s and use them to extract the real meaning of any pure Tamil word, you will be amazed like me.

Its interesting and clear how our ancestors associated sounds with specific meanings related to the object/subject they faced with.
We also come to know how different objects based on their similar characteristics, gained similar sounding words later differentiated using letters.
